A yellow card in rugby union is a disciplinary measure used by the referee to temporarily suspend a player from the game for 10 minutes. This action is taken in response to infractions that are considered serious but not severe enough to warrant a Red Card. Common offenses that might result in a yellow card include repeated infringements, dangerous play, cynical play, or unsportsmanlike behavior.

When a player receives a yellow card, they must leave the field of play and remain in the designated Sin Bin area for the duration of the card. During this period, the player’s team must continue with one fewer player on the field. After the 10-minute suspension, the player is allowed to re-enter the game, or occasionally is substituted by the team.
